Nahal Student Short Film Festival announces national contenders

The 15th Nahal Student Short Film Festival reveals the list of national contenders.

The Nahal Student Short Film Festival has revealed the list of national contenders for its 15th edition.

The selection committee of the national section has chosen 45 titles from more than 350 works submitted to the secretariat.

‘Monster’ by Mohammad Tafazzoli and Siavash Shahabi, ‘Cleaner’ by Mohammad-Reza Meyqani, ‘Wild’ by Fardin Ansari, ‘Bayern Munich’ by Negin Amin-Zadeh, ‘Portray’ by Siavash Farhadi, ‘Like a Good Kid’ by Arian Vazir-Daftari, and ‘Crocodile’ by Iman Khoshnoudi are among the national lineup.

‘Mountain’ by Farhad Afsari, ‘One Day One City’ by Hamid Ale-Hamoudi, and ‘Consortium’ by Aref Hatami in documentary section, ‘Seeing’ by Mahda Pour-Mehdi, and ‘Sound of Silence’ by Milad Mohebbian in experimental section, as well as ‘Entropy’ by Mehrdad Mahabadi, and ‘Mind’ by Mahboubeh Kalaei are also among the contenders.

The Nahal film festival has scheduled to honor Iranian director Nasser Taqvaei, publishing a special outlet about him and his works.

The 15th edition of the festival will also screen Taqvaei's ‘Unruled Paper’ on the first day.

‘Sadeq Kordeh’, ‘Freedom’, ‘Badjen’, ‘Greek Ship’, ‘Arbaeen’, ‘Last Exercise’, and ‘Captain Khorshid’ are among the other works by the honoree to go on the Nahal screen.

The event will be organized by students of theater and cinema faculty, University of Tehran in collaboration with cultural deputy of the university in 2 sections of Short Film as well as Scene Photography and Poster with the latter encompassing categories of Documentary, Fiction, Experimental Cinema, Animation and First Film Directors.

This marks the third time the event will be held at International level with entries received from various countries.

The festival aims to set the stage for showcasing college students’ capabilities and draw a connection between college students and cinema as well as providing a healthy competitive environment for creators of film works.
